Polk State College’s music department is preparing to offer a fast-paced afternoon of performance at its Fall Festival of Music.

Fall Festival of Music will be Oct. 16 at 2:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts Theatre on the Winter Haven campus. It is free and open to the public, though donations to the Polk State Foundation Music Scholarship Fund are encouraged.

Featured performers will include the Polk State Concert Choir, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, Women’s Ensemble, String Ensemble, Concert Band, Brass Ensemble and Jazz Combo.

Attendees will enjoy a wide range of popular music, including numbers from the Broadway show “Cats,”  the enduring favorite “A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes,” Duke Ellington’s “Perdido,” “I Say a Little Prayer for You,” and British and Irish folk songs.

“This music is all very accessible,” said John Anderson, Polk State College coordinator of music. “This is going to be a family-oriented, fun, upbeat event.

“It will be a very high-energy concert all the way through.”
